Weaving together artistry of centuries past, this opulent collection features magnolia lithographs found in 18th and 19th century natural history books from Carolina and Virginia, and hand-coloured engravings of pears and figs plucked from historic botanical prints. The delicate moths that flutter across the design — including the ethereal luna moth — come from an 1894 etching, while the little golden bumblebees on the trim are borrowed from an embossed Victorian book cover. The background of this dreamy collage is deeply personal to Danielle, the creative behind Market of Stars. It’s a photograph of the top of her own 150-year-old work table, the space where she creates many of her designs late at night! Trimmed in black and scattered with golden bees borrowed from an embossed Victorian book cover, it’s both grounded and celestial: a pattern that feels like moonlight through old glass, or vines climbing weathered wood. A first for us in its totally neutral palette, Honey \u0026amp; The Moon is a departure in tone, but not in spirit. Our lush and verdant botanical print comes from the “12 Months of Flowers”, a series of remarkably beautiful hand-coloured etchings from the 1700s by engraver Henry Fletcher. The prints were commissioned by famed English gardener Robert Furber, and were published as a catalogue of flowers and seeds according to season. We chose the Fletcher’s print from the month of March for its delightfully detailed blooms, and then layered the flowers together to create a wild and wonderful print that captures the exuberance of the garden. The charming bumblebee trim comes from a museum seed catalogue from the late 1800’s. We are so excited to wear this print! It’s such a joyful and abundant design that goes with almost every colour.
